Krishna is a central figure in Hinduism, revered as the eighth avatar of the god Vishnu and also worshipped as a supreme deity in his own right. Krishna’s life and teachings are celebrated in various texts, with the Bhagavad Gita, part of the epic Mahabharata, being one of the most notable. He is known for his mischievous childhood antics in Vrindavan, his role as the divine lover of the gopis (milkmaids), especially Radha, and his philosophical discourses on duty and righteousness.

Krishna’s iconography typically depicts him as a handsome young man playing a flute, with a peacock feather in his hair. His stories from childhood, known as Krishna Lila, include his miraculous deeds and his playful nature. As an adult, he is portrayed as a wise and charismatic leader, guiding the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra War and delivering the profound message of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.

His birthday, known as Janmashtami, is celebrated with great fervor, and his association with the festival of Holi highlights his playful and loving characteristics. Krishna’s legacy continues to inspire devotion and philosophical inquiry, making him a beloved deity across many Hindu traditions.
